At once beautiful and therapeutic, this relaxing and detoxifying mineral salt bath soak makes for a perfect handmade gift, as well as a gift for one’s self.
We put our bodies through a lot of stress. Farm work, desk work, high heels, work boots, treadmills and trauma – and that’s just the beginning. Environmental pollutants, chemicals in detergents, soaps and cosmetics – just more assault on our beleaguered beings. What we all need is a good long hot soak to wash away our worries… And there is no better way to do that than with this wonderful Relax and Detox Mineral Salt Bath Soak!
This holiday season I found myself mixing up a large bowl of these wonderful salts to share with friends and family and set aside some for our poor aching bodies. A mineral rich blend of Epson and Himalayan Pink Salts, this bath soak is as visually pleasing as it is body pleasing. A small addition of coconut oil adds moisture. I chose to use lavender essential oils for its relaxing nature, but you could add an essential oil of your choice. It is important to understand the unique properties of these two salts for their therapeutic qualities are far undervalued.
Mineral Salt Bath Soak Ingredients
Epson Salt
Not a truly a salt by culinary standards, Epson salts are a natural compound of magnesium and sulfate. Extraordinary for relieving muscle tension and stimulating proper nerve function, reducing inflammation, supporting the body’s proper enzyme function and detoxifying the body – these salts should be in everyone’s home.
Himalayan Pink Salt
In addition to be amazingly beautiful in its jewel like appearance, these salts contain 84 trace minerals that, when dissolved into warm bath water, are absorbed by the skin. In addition to the incredible nourishing power, a brine-y soak in these salts is incredibly detoxifying.
Package these salts up in pretty glass mason or apothecary jars for storage. One cup of salts makes for a delightfully relaxing bath, two cups allows for more therapeutic and detoxifying benefits. Soak and enjoy…
Ahhhhh, time for a bath…

Weekly I’ve been soaking my cancer dog in mineralized salt water– to which is added honey, ACV, spirulina and activated charcoal– since she was diagnosed. She is receiving no veterinary care — the recommended treatments being completely unacceptable — despite being told she had only 5 months to live without them. That was almost 2 years ago, and she’s the spryest 13yo dog I’ve seen in a long time. She eats with gusto, jumps on and off the sofa daily, plays, explores, goes for walks, hunts for moles, and last week she ran up a flight of steps! She’s nowhere near the Rainbow Bridge and I’m definitely not ready to lose her so we’ll just keep doing what we’re doing.
