Introducing The Homegrown Herbal Apothecary

The love of gardening is a seed once sown that never dies. – Gertrude Jekyll

I always find great peace and purpose digging into the earth.  Every newly emerged seedling brings me excitement.  I find great joy in a day spent tending to a landcape.  Harvesting my vegetables, fruits, and medicinal herbs offers me a deep sense of gratitude and abundance.  A sense of security in an ever changing world.

As an herbalist, my relationship to plants is quite obvious.  I celebrate each botanicals unique therapuetic value in the apothecary.  But I am often troubled by the more consumer driven aspects of herbalism — exotic and rare herbs touted as the next cure-all, endless supplements packaged and distributed with little thought or care…  I want to bring herbalism HOME.

As such…

The Homegrown Herbal Apothcary was born.

What if we can plant a medicinal lanscape?

Surround our homes with beauty and the healing power of herbs?

Learn to work with the ebb and flow of Mother Nature?

Gain insight into our surroundings and create a sustainable healing garden?

Become confident in our herbal instincts?

Sage page from Homegrown Herbal Apothecary

The Homegrown Herbal Apothecary was my answer to these question.  In this book, I dove deep into over 120 healing botanicals, how to grow and harvest these herbs, and create remedies based on master formulas using our instinctual knowledge.  You will find herbal profiles describing the traditional medicinal uses of each plant, growing tips add recommentations, as well as harvesting best practices and remedy suggestions.  Master remedy recipes will guide you in creating remedies to soothe you body, mind and spirit.  You will learn how to apply the concepts of herbal energetics in the garden to foster and healing landscape full of potent herbal remedies.  Garden science and more esoteric concepts such as moon cycle gardening will turn you into a green thumbed home herbalist.

The Homegrown Herbal Apothecary contains 160 pages, is beautifully hand illustrated, and nods to the botanical prints and garden books of bygone eras.  Writing this book was a remedy for my sometimes weary soul in this fast paced world.  I can’t wait to share it with you.
